Silver Lake Robotics - Lending a hand
Helping at Local Competitions
Members of the SLI Robotics Program recently helped run a local competition. We helped 12 beginner teams learn about the competition. They learned about how it runs, what Elimination matches, and Alliance picking is like.
Promoting VEX
Our Club has held presentations in local Lions Clubs, and Rotary Clubs. We show the members what we do in robotics, what it is like for us, and what we do for the team. In these presentations we show our robots, and demonstrate basic movement with them.
We also promoted VEX at our State Fair. We helped set up a few fields for a competition, and educated anyone that came by. We competed with other teams from our state, and a few out of state, too. Once over, we helped dis-assemble the fields, and organize parts for them.
Helping New Teams
This year we expanded our team allowance to allow anyone who wanted to be in robotics to join. The old teams held a few meetings for newer teams. In these meetings we helped the new teams understand what a competition would be like - such as what you need to bring, and what your day will be like.
We also helped new teams with any problems they encountered. Experienced teams helped teams get to know the design process, help guide them through basic design flaws, and even work with them for strategy. We had experienced members go through how to program their robots, such as the drive, then if they wanted to, their first autonomous.

Fundraising
We hold events around the community, where we will go to a local restaurant, educate locals about VEX Robotics, and a portion of the funds will be credited to the program. We would like to thank our local Schlotzsky's for helping our program!
